League of Women Voters of Arizona – Why Working Polls Matter – Pima County
September 24 @ 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm
To help increase the recruitment of poll workers for our next General Election, we are working with the Pima County election officials to provide the public with the most updated and accurate information about the role poll workers play in ensuring free, secure, and fair elections.
Join Elections Director Constance Hargrove in this stimulating and informative program about the fundamentals of the poll workers’ roles in our democracy, the composition of the election board, how staffing of polling locations is achieved, the role of election workers at non-polling stations, and the need for additional behind-the-scenes workers on Election Day.
The program will also explain the nuts and bolts of being a poll worker, covering a wide number of questions potential poll workers will likely ask. How does one apply to be a poll worker? What is the typical Election Day like for a poll worker? How are polling stations run? How do the County Elections officials ensure nonpartisan participation by poll workers representing different political parties? Are poll workers employees or volunteers? What times do the polls open and close? Where do I find a polling station? What about the length of the Election Day? Training received by poll workers, the number of polling stations expected on Election Day 2022 and their minimum staffing requirements.
Thoroughly trained, nonpartisan, dedicated poll workers play a crucial part in the fundamental process of our democracy: open, free, honest, and accessible elections. Be an Election Hero in your Community! Invite your friends and neighbors to this conversation.
