Maricopa County Branch NAACP – Book Club – “PUSHOUT: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools”

February 23 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Our first successful book club meeting was held in August of 2019 and received positive feedback from participants! You are now invited to our second book club meeting scheduled for February 23, 2021 at 2:30 via Zoom.
Our second book club selection is PUSHOUT: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools by Monique W. Morris, Ed.D. Dr. Morris is co-founder of the National Black Women’s Justice Institute and an acclaimed advocate.
In her own words Dr. Morris writes “I believe in a justice not associated with any form of oppression. I work for it and I write about it”
PUSHOUT is a book that is recommended for educators, counselors, social workers, parents and law enforcement. With the additional stressors created by COVID, it is vitally important to continue to remain diligent in our efforts to address the need for justice in the educational system; particularly for Black Girls.
