Murdoch Community Center – June 19, 1865 – Emancipation Juneteenth Liberation Day

The Lived Black Experience as presented by the Southside Community Association invites the commUnity to join us for this amazing LBE CommUnity Dialogue –
June 19, 1865 – Emancipation Juneteenth Liberation Day and the history of Juneteenth and Galveston, TX’s connection to the Civil War, Emancipation & those who were once enslaved.
CommUnity Dialogue Presenter:
Edward T. Cotham, Jr.
The prize-winning author of many books and articles on Civil War history, emphasizing the battles and skirmishes in Texas. A frequent lecturer on these subjects, Ed also leads occasional tours of Texas battlefields and state historic sites. Ed’s research interests also include a wide variety of historical events that took place in and around Texas.
Rev. Bernadine Lewis will frame the conversation and Ms. Khara House will facilitate the conversation and commUnity Q&A.
As always, we welcome community engagement and dialogue and will be taking “live” questions from the audience.
