On July 5, 1852, Frederick Douglass gave a keynote address at an Independence Day celebration and asked, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July? It was a scathing speech in which Douglass stated, “This Fourth of July is yours, not mine, You may rejoice, I must mourn.
Join us for a Review of & Conversation about Fredrick Douglas’s historic Speech.
The presentation and following discussion will be lead by Dr. Fredrick Gooding Jr.
Ms. Khara House and Rev. Bernadine Lewis will assist with the commUnity Q&A session of the discussion.
As always, we welcome community engagement and dialogue and will be taking “live” questions from the audience.
