2020 Census: Update on data collection to be used in redistricting
Jannah Scott, Senior Partnership Specialist, U.S. Census Bureau will provide an update on the 2020 census data collection, the effects of COVID-19 on census plans, and response rates in Arizona.
Alec Thomson, Executive Director, Arizona Complete Count Committee (CCC) will discuss the work of the CCC and why the 2020 census is important to Arizona.
A Q&A session will follow their presentations.
Arizona Independent redistricting process: The Commission on Appellate Court Appointments (CACA): Reviewing applicants for the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission
Martin Quezada,Arizona State Senator, member of the Arizona Senate Education, Judiciary, and Rules committee will talk about CACA and why it is important to redistricting. He provides information on the application process and strategies for appointment to IRC , the timeline composition issues of (CACA), Challenges in special communities (i.e., Native American, latinx and rural communities), attempts to change IRC during the 2020 legislative session. CACA membership and a tentative schedule for reviewing applicants to the Independent Redistricting Commission.
